Does my grass die in winter?
No, your summer grass goes dormant in the cooler temperatures of fall and winter.
How can I have green grass in winter?
We recommend over seeding with a perennial rye seed. Hiring a licensed, experienced company often times will get the best results.
How long will my over seeding last?
Winter rye grass typically grows from late September/October through March and sometimes into April.
Will I need to seed again for summer?
No, your Bermuda grass roots will become active with consistently warm temperatures of spring. Gradually mowing the rye grass lower will allow the Bermuda to take over.
I don’t want to over seed. Should I turn the water off completely to my dormant lawn?
Although the grass is dormant, the roots will need some water. Usually, a deep soak about once per week is sufficient.
Is pre-emergent important and when should I do it?
Yes, it is. Regular application of pre-emergent (every 6 months) can greatly reduce the number of weeds that germinate. It is applied over gravel and existing plants with no harm. It is best to apply during monsoon/winter seasons. For more information call (480) 987-6110.
Why do you do less trimming in winter?
The growth of most plants slows down in the cooler months. We may do less trimming to leave the inner part of the plant protected from colder temps and frost during the winter. Once the nights warm up in March and April, the crews will begin removing the outer growth.
If I purchase plants, will the crew plant them for me?
Yes, the crew will plant them for you. They will quote you on the spot and run irrigation lines (if needed) as well for a nominal cost. We do not warranty customer provided plants.
Is there a warrant on your planting?
Yes, we offer a 6-month warranty on all plants for non-maintenance customers and a 1-year warranty if you are on a monthly, bi-weekly or weekly maintenance service and have an automatic irrigation system in place.
Can you come adjust my timer?
Yes, we will come out and adjust your timer seasonally at your request. The cost is $35 for the first station and an additional $10 per station after that. If you are on maintenance this is included with your service.
